Some migrated and settled along the sea and rivers and engaged in fishing.

This led to advancements in administration, arts, sciences, and more. When the flooding changed, it led to greater instability as seen in the First Intermediate Period (2181-2055 BC).

In the years the Nile did not flood sufficiently, it led to severe reductions in agricultural output since the fields depended on the floodwaters for irrigation. This resulted in widespread famine and hardship.
