An imaginative or creative essay has similarities with other types of essays: there is an Introduction, Body and Conclusion. More importantly, you are expected to let your imagination run wild. Creative writing is all about gaining and holding the interest of your readers
An effective method for writing creative essays is to adopt what is known as "the 3-point structure". This comprises:
- Set-up
- Confrontation
- Resolution
Set-up: Create the characters and how they relate to each other and their environment or 'space'. The set-up is usually written in the introduction but you can introduce more characters in the body. Endeavor to create an introduction that is attention-grabbing.
Confrontation: Build your story to a point calm turns into chaos or confrontation.
Resolution: The most interesting characters are dynamic characters. You can portray your protagonist (main character) as someone who see things differently by the end of the story.
